July 22, 2011 Diamond Valley Lake with Fellow Team Mojo Pro-Staffer Brian Day

Brian Day - Part of Team Mojo Pro-staff (He caught larger fish but I'm not going to post them. Sorry Brian. LOL)
Got a call on Thursday from my fellow Team Mojo Pro-staffer Brian Day and we decided to hit up Diamond Valley Lake today. We met up at Last Chance Bait and Tackle in Hemet around 6 AM and headed to the lake in the hopes that the boat would be clean and dry enough to pass the Quagga Muscle Inspection. I previously had to give up my tag so I could spend some time fishing San Diego Bay. To my relief, the boat passed the inspection and I am again tagged for DVL.
The weather was GREAT and the fishing was nearly as good. Water temperature was about 75˚ and the air temperature was in the 80˚’s. Read more…

Today I took Oliver Conrad out to Diamond Valley Lake. Oliver is from Germany and never before been to Diamond Valley Lake let alone fished for largemouth bass. He told me that in Germany he fishes for much larger fish, those over 20 pounds, and that he had never used such light line (we were using 6 lb. Berkley 100% fluorocarbon). In Germany he fishes with heavy rods and reels with line size that can be well over 30 lbs.

Diamond Valley Lake Memorial Day 2011
I decided to head out to Diamond Valley Lake for a few hours today. By the time I got on the water it was already 9:45 AM. So much for getting up early and catching some fish on topwater baits. So I went out expecting to find a senko and drop shot bite. The weather was pretty nice for most of the day. There was a light breeze for a good portion of the time and the skies were clear. The water temperature through the day ranged from 67˚ to 70˚. Read more…
